Video shows incredible rescue off capsized boat following Hurricane MariaOn September 22, 2017 by Maybell
Hurricane Maria’s havoc has been devastating, but amid the destruction there’s been some incredible work done.
One such example can be witnessed in this video by the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast, capturing the rescue of a woman and her two children, who were stuck on top of a capsized boat off the coast of Vieques, Puerto Rico on Thursday.
The rescue was coordinated by a U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Clearwater, Florida, and a British Royal Fleet Auxiliary Mounts Bay helicopter crew.
“Coast Guard watchstanders received an alert via emergency position indicating radio beacon and then a distress call on Sept. 20 from the Ferrel stating they were disabled and adrift in 20-foot seas and 100-knot winds,” the video’s description reads.
As you’d expect, the trio were winched to safety — one by one — off the ship, in the midst of high winds and rough seas. Again, impressive work.
